City Finances

The City’s fiscal year begins October 1 and runs through September 30.  The city council is responsible for adopting the budget and approving bills paid.


The city budget is adopted each year in August.  Public hearings are held prior to adopting the budget.  If any changes to the budget are required during the fiscal year, additional hearings are held.

Financial Statements

The City Clerk/Treasurer is required to publish quarterly financial statements.  The statements show the funds received and expended during the quarter.  The official statements are published in the News-Examiner within 30 days of the close of the quarter, except for the final quarter of the year, which will not be published until the completion of the audit.  The statements are posted here for your convenience.

1st Quarter Financial Statement: October 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013

2nd Quarter Financial Statement: January 1, 2014 to March 31, 2014

3rd Quarter Financial Statement: April 1, 2014 to June 30, 2014


1st Quarter Financial Statement: October 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014


By law, the city must undergo an annual independent audit.
